On 20th November, 1914, the 1st Wiltshire battalion of 7 Brigade, 3rd Division were relieved by French troops from trenches at Hooge, near Ypres and on the following day they were hit by shrapnel as they moved along the road from Hooge to Ypres. When they reached Westoutre that evening they were shelled again. During the course of the day eight men were killed, including Hugh Talbot. |
